Hon. Abiodun Tobun, the lawmaker representing Epe Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, has said his fifth-term ambition was driven by popular demand from his constituents.
Tobun, who has been a member of the Assembly since 2011, stated that criticism is an integral part of governance and should be seen as a tool for improvement rather than a means of distraction.
According to him, “Criticism is part of governance. It serves as a challenge to do more.
“No one on earth is above criticism; even God’s messengers were criticized.
“We will not be distracted by negative comments but will remain focused and resolute in our developmental agenda for Epe community,” he said.
The lawmaker urged the public to be more constructive and objective in their criticisms, saying such engagement would promote better understanding between the electorate and their representatives.
He emphasized that his continued service was a reflection of the people’s confidence in his performance, noting that the call for his fifth term came from the community itself.
“If I had not represented the good people of Epe well, I would not still be here today. My continued stay in office is because of the constituency’s vote of confidence in me.
“I am not the best, but my constituent appreciates my humanitarian support and community impact and they want my representation to continue.
“I cannot force myself on the people. Since they have asked me to continue, I will humbly respect their will,” Tobun said.
He, however, noted that anyone was free to contest against him in 2027, stressing that the decision ultimately lies in the hands of the electorate.
“Your PVC is your power. Use it to vote for who you believe can best represent you. I am not tired of serving my people and, by God’s grace, I am ready to continue in the service of Epe community,” he added.
Tobun highlighted several community-driven initiatives, including education support, empowerment programmes, youth empowerment, scholarship, palliative distribution, financial support to the less privilege and infrastructural developmental projects that have impacted lives across Epe Constituency 1.
He assured that more people-oriented projects were underway to consolidate ongoing development efforts.
The lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to responsive representation, saying the task ahead required focus, collaboration, and dedication.
“The work before us is greater than listening to baseless criticisms. Our goal remains to improve the welfare of our people and to leave lasting legacies that generations will be proud of,” he said.
Tobun expressed his profound appreciation to all traditional rulers, youth groups, and women associations in Epe for their continued support, pledging to remain accountable and transparent in his legislative duties.
“I specially extend my unreserved appreciation to my Traditional ruler, Oba Kamorudeen Ishola Animashahun, the Oloja of Epe land, My Political leader, Alhaji Akanni Seriki Bamu, my supporters, youths, my fans and other relevance stakeholders in the community.
“You are all appreciated and thanking you all immensely for standing by, I promise I will not disappoint you, my representation will continue to provide dividends of good governance to my good people in Epe community,” he said.
The lawmaker urges his fans and followers not to respond to online or offline criticism, our administration sterling performance will speak for us.
“The physical projects are there for people to see, our records are there and the good people of Epe community can testify to our outstanding performance and good representation, “Que Sera Sera, ” he said.
