Akinsanya Resumes Office, Inaugurates 6th Legislative Council

The Executive Chairman of Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Snr. Comr. Lasisi Ayinde Akinsanya, officially resumes office and performed his first official duty with the inauguration and proclamation of the 6th Legislative Council of the LCDA.

The ceremony, held at the council secretariat, marked the formal beginning of a new legislative tenure and set the tone for a renewed commitment to service, collaboration, and grassroots development.

The atmosphere at the council secretariat was filled with excitement and renewed hope as dignitaries, party leaders, community stakeholders, management staffs, Nulge Excos and well-wishers gathered to witness the swearing-in of the newly elected councillors.

In his address, Akinsanya congratulated the new council members and encouraged them to approach their duties with a spirit of service, humility, and unity. He reminded them that leadership is about service, not self-interest, and called for unity, cooperation, and purposeful legislation that will improve the lives of the people across the council area.

Reaffirming his commitment to an open-door policy, the executive Chairman promised continued collaboration in key areas such as health, infrastructure, youth development, education, and environmental sustainability.

Among the special guests at the event are; member of the Federal House of Representatives, representing Alimosho Federal Constituency, Hon. Ganiyu Adele Ayuba ESQ, Former Lagos State House of Assembly member, Hon. Aramide Omotayo Oduntan, All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman, Igando-Ikotun LCDA, Alhaji Haruna Ayuba Ikuologun, the Council Manager, Mrs. Modupeola Leoso, Head of Human Resources Department, Mrs.Yemisi Omogbare, Council Treasurer, Mrs. Mopelola Dejonwo, the Chairman, Community Development Committee (CDC), Pst. Ojo Samuel, the APC G12 members and others.

In their separate goodwill message, Hon. Ayuba and Hon. Oduntan encouraged the Councillors to work closely with the Chairman and the executive arm, stressing that meaningful development can only happen when leaders work as a team.

The formal swearing-in of the councillors was conducted by the Council’s Legal Officer, Barr. Isiaka Adebisi, while the official proclamation and opening of the 6th Legislative Council was organized by the Clerk of the House, Mr. Olumide Fashina.

Shortly after the proclamation, leadership positions within the newly inaugurated council were elected among the councillors as follows:

Hon. Tajudeen Ayodele Olorunfemi (Egan Ward F) as theLeader of the House,
Hon. Opebiyi Oluwatosin (Isheri-Oshun Ward C) as the Deputy Leader, Hon. Olawale Hassan as the Majority Leader and
Hon. Makandasi Musibau Abolore (Ijegun Ward D) (Abaranje/Okerube Ward as the Chief Whip.

Other members of the Council include; Hon. Omotosho Saheed Olateju (Ikotun Central Ward A), Hon. Engr. Akinyemi Haruna (Igando Ward E)
Hon. Mohammed Rashidat Adeshola (Akesan/Obadore Ward G).

In his acceptance speech, the new Leader of the House, Hon. Olorunfemi, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and pledged to lead with fairness, transparency, and a strong commitment of teamwork.

He also acknowledged past leaders and promised to build on the progress already made the 5th Legislative arm of the council.

Also in attendance was the Council’s NULGE branch Chairman, Sen. Amb. Comr. Adeshina Arowosafe and other management team of the council to show their support and solidarity with the new Legislator.

The inauguration was marked by its ceremonial splendour and strong community spirit. With the 6th Legislative Council now in place, residents of Igando-Ikotun LCDA can look forward to four years of purposeful leadership, meaningful legislation, and a renewed focus on people-first policies.
