FAMILIARIZATION TOUR: LEGISLATIVE ARM VISITS DEPARTMENTS, UNITS

In a bid to strengthen the cordial working relationship between the Legislative Arm and the Administrative structure of Igando-Ikotun Local Council Development Area (LCDA), the seven wards councillors under the leadership of the Executive Chairman of Igando-Ikotun lcda, Snr. Comr. Lasisi Ayinde Akinsanya, led by the Leader of the House, Hon. Tajudeen Ayodele Olorunfemi and accompanied by the Clerk of the Legislative Chamber, Mr. Olumide Fashina embarked on an official familiarization visit to all Departments and Units within the council between Monday 11th and Wednesday 13th of August, 2025.

The visit commenced at the Office of the Council Manager, Mrs. Modupeola Leoso, the Administrative Head and key coordinating officer of the council.

Mrs. Leoso warmly received the legislative team, commended their commitment to effective governance, and emphasized the importance of seamless synergy between the legislature and the council administration for the benefit of the residents of the council, assuring the councillors of her unwavering support and cooperation in the discharge of their legislative duties.

The Legislators proceeded to other critical departments and units of the council, including Human Resources Office, Finace and Acvount Department helded by the Council Treasurer, Budget and Planning Department, Works and Housing Department, Health, Agriculture and Social Services, Education and Environmental Departments.

Other offices visited are; Procurement, Public Affairs, Information Communication and Technology (ICT) and Tourism, Units. Ikotun Area office, Customary Court and Ikotun Primary Health Centre(PHC) was also visited.

The Legislators were able to inspect the ongoing renovation of the Primary Health Centre by the Executive Chairman of the Council. At each office, the councillors interacted with the respective heads of departments and units, gaining first-hand insight into their roles, operational challenges, and achievements.

Speaking during the visit, the Leader of the Legislative House stated that the familiarization tour was aimed at fostering mutual understanding, promoting teamwork, and building an atmosphere of transparency and accountability. He noted that the legislature’s oversight function would be better served when there is a clear understanding of administrative processes and departmental responsibilities.

The Clerk of the Legislative Chamber also highlighted that the visit would pave the way for better communication channels, smoother inter-departmental relations, and more coordinated service delivery to the people of the council.

Heads of departments and units expressed their appreciation of the initiative, describing it as a positive step towards harmonizing the legislative and administrative arms of the council.

With this familiarization exercise, the legislative and administrative teams will have further demonstrated their readiness to work hand-in-hand in advancing good governance, improving service delivery, and promoting the socio-economic development of the council area.
