Super Eagles and Chippa United goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali’s career is set to take an interesting turn after his two penalty saves against South Africa in the AFCON semi-final caught the attention of football investors.

The goalie, according to Soccernet, is the subject of interest for a Belgian club following his performances at AFCON.

The Belgian club, Union Saint-Gilloise reportedly assigned scouts yesterday to look out for Nwabali following his impressive performances so far.

Nwabali, 27, was a shock inclusion in Jose Peseiro’s first eleven against Equatorial Guinea as the Portuguese tactician opted against starting Francis Uzoho.

Since Nigeria’s opening game in Ivory Coast, Nwabali has made the number-one spot his own, keeping two clean sheets and making big saves to keep things tight at the back.

The goalie yesterday referenced the trending 2024 slogan, “No gree for anybody”, in his post match interview after Nigeria’s thrilling victory over South Africa.

Nwabali, who was overwhelmed with emotion, told the interviewer, “You know the slogan, you no go gree for anybody”.

He also spoke about the upcoming AFCON final against Ivory Coast, saying he hopes Nigeria wins the tournament.
